The Ordinary and Good Molecules, Affordable Skincare Products For Healthy Skin

The Ordinary and Good molecules are affordable skincare products that have gotten me started on my healthy skincare journey. I dealt with acne all my teenage years to my adult years. Finally, I’m at a place where I’m seeing better results with the products that I’ve incorporated into my skincare routine.

Here are 4 Affordable skincare products that helped improved the overall glow of my skin.

The Ordinary needs no introduction. It’s been a very disruptive skincare brand that has made skincare more affordable. They focus on active ingredient that target skin problems at an unbeatable price.

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
The Ordinary

One of my favourite product is the Niacinamide. I never understood how I should be using it but now that I have a better understanding I’ve seen great results with it.

To cut the science jargon out of the way, Niacinamide contributes to the overall health of your skin. If you suffer from acne, this helps to reduce the amount of breakouts, as it has anti-inflammatory properties. Consistent use of Niacinamide reduces the size of pore and provides a healthy, smoother skin. Overall the benefit of Niacinamide include, fading dark spots, minimise wrinkles and fine line and can be noticed in as little as four weeks.

When using Niacinamide in your skincare, note that it can go well and can be layered with other acids such as Retinol, Vitamin C serum and AHA and my favourite Hyaluronic Acid.

The Ordinary Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%
The Ordinary

To keep it short Ascorbic Acid is Vitamin C but not all labeled products that say Vitamin C are Ascorbic Acid, some may have properties like Vitamin C but they definitely aren’t Ascorbic Acid (A brain twister)

Unlike Niacinamide, Vitamin C can’t doesn’t always go well with Retinols unless they have been formulated in the right balance to work with Retinols, however, they work well with Niacinamide as mentioned above and as well as AHA, BHA and Hyaluronic Acid.

Having acne, acne scars and dull skin, using The Ordinary Ascorbic Acid helps create younger-looking skin and fading dark spots. In as little as a week, I have seen the transformation of from having dull skin to having brighter healthy-looking skin.

The Good Molecule Hyaluronic Acid

Another brand that falls under the same range as The Ordinary is Good Molecules. I did a full review on my Youtube Channel. They have a close price point when compared to the Ordinary, though not a wide range of products when compared to The Ordinary.

Hyaluronic Acid hand down is one of my favourite skincare products and the only way to reverse the signs of ageing. I like to call it my youth in a bottle.

Hyaluronic Acid layers well with other skincare products like Niacinamide, AHA, BHA, Retinols and Vitamin C making it easy to incorporate into your skincare routine. As you age and are exposure to UV radiation, loss in hydration, skin suppleness and the naturally occurring Hyaluronic Acid in the skin diminishes. Adding HA in my routine has improved my skin over bounce and hydration.

The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin 2%+ HA
The Ordinary

If fading dark spots or acne scarring was ever your problem, then you need this product. The ordinary Alpha Arbutin is the most potent products that fades dark spots.

The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin has melanin prohibiting properties which makes it easy to fade out dark spot and tackle even the toughest acne scarring. While I love this product, I tend to use it with caution. When it comes to layering with other products Alpha Arbutin works well with Vitamin C and AHA.

It is important to note that not all skin types or acne skin will respond well to these products above. Its important to do a patch test and always consult with your dermatologist. One thing to add when using some of these products during the day is to alway wear sunscreen.

If you’ve used any of these products please share your experience in the comment section. Check out my previous post on products worth investing in
