If you’re looking for great and affordable restaurants in Washington D.C, the Navy Yard is a great place to start. There are so many options to choose from, but two of the top options are Due South and Surveyor.
SAVORY FLAVOURS OF NAVY YARD
Due South is a great place to start your Navy Yard experience. It is located right by the waterfront, offering stunning view of the Potomac River. The casual dining atmosphere is perfect for a casual evening out with friends or family. The menu features traditional Southern favourites, as well as some more unique dishes. I had shrimp sandwich with a kale salad, both amazing and delicious.
The Surveyor restaurant in Washington D.C. is a must dine in my book, so good I dined there twice.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was very cozy and inviting. The decor was minimalistic and modern, with plenty of natural light pouring in.
The menu options were incredibly varied and it was difficult to decide just what to order. For breakfast, I opted for the Chicken Waffle and my partner had the Halloumi and Avocado, which we both love to share. Both were delicious and cooked to perfection. For dinner, I had the Kale Salad which was incredibly tasty with roasted peanuts , which is hands down the best I’ve ever had. The Roasted Half Chicken was also divine. It was made with heirloom carrots, pumpkin seeds, and the apricot glaze which made it incredibly moist and extremely tasty.
A TASTE OF GEORGETOWN
Georgetown is a picturesque town worth the trip. From its charming cobblestone streets to its waterfront restaurants, there is something about the town that looks like it’s straight out of a movie.
Tony and Joe’s Seafood Place is a local favourite, serving up classic seafood dishes with a modern twist. I kept it light and fresh and had the Cedar Plank Salmon, with agave glaze, snow peas, baby carrots, marble potatoes, and lemon beurre blanc. If there anything I was told to try it would be the famous Georgetown Cupcakes. With its long line of eager customers, and tons of cupcake variety I see why this spot is so popular. From classic flavours to seasonal specials, truly spoilt for choice.
If you’re looking for a casual evening out, a sweet treat, or a fresh seafood dinner, Washington D.C. has a great selection of restaurants. The Navy Yard is a great place to start and Georgetown has some amazing spots, all within close proximity.
